Our u16s put in a good effort tonight against an overall physically stronger and taller Brookborough team. They say the score never lies but tonight it definitely does not reflect the overall play.
At half time Tempo were losing 2-3 to 5-4. But the way these goals came about was highly frustrating. Twice Tempo attacked on one occasion connor magee hit the post and the other oisin jackson hit the bar and both times the rebound lead to play going straight up the pitch for Brookborough goals. A strange penalty was also awarded and scored for a Brookeborough player falling in possession while no Tempo player was tackling him.
So these incidents put Brookborough in the ascendency but equally Tempo could have been almost level.
Connor magee (1-1) and oisin Jackson (2-5) were a real threat all night in the forward line. Michael mcphillips and Oisin Murphy provided some great passes into the forward line.
Peter Rafferty (0-1) and Ronan McCaffrey (0-1) both put in a good shift in midfield but had their hands full.
In defence Stephen cassidy was good in goals with some excellent kickouts. His brother brendan was an absolute dynamo with a never say die attitude. Aidan Flanagan, Fergus Fee and Barra Mcstravick all played well winning some great balls, putting in good tackles and distributing well to move us out of defence.
We asked the lads to step up the effort and tackles in the second half which they did and we kept pace with the opposition much better.
No game next week as we have a bye. We play belcoo away the following Thursday (21st)
