Tempo Club Notes

A major change in the structure of the first division of the SFL  has resulted in the senior team placed in the new Section B for the remainder of the year. They will have a four game programme and the basic target is to avoid relegation, two of the five clubs contesting  this grouping destined to go down.

League points secured over the games so far will be carried through so last Friday evening’s three point  win over visiting Maguiresbridge could in the end prove to be absolutely crucial. In this game the team certainly had a superb start, grabbing two goals inside the opening few minutes and that obviously provided a platform for the rest of the contest.

But with Maguiresbridge soon edging back  it was never a comfortable evening and when the opposition drove home a penalty goal close to the finish it all became a touch too close for comfort.

No further league games until the completion of the championship, which will occupy the schedule until the onset of October. The championship quarter final with Erne Gaels will be at Derrygonnelly on Saturday August  29th.

Also on the championship trail will be the Erne Cup side which has a championship date with Derrygonnelly on Friday 28th at Maguiresbridge, throw in timed for 7-30.

The under 16 side continue to be hit by summer time absentees and again they fielded a much depleted side for their Sunday lunchtime game with visiting Irvinestown. They did have a bright start, a goal inside a minute, but over the hour the visitors were to pull away to score a convincing victory.

Appreciation is extended to Malachy Graham and Martin Breen for the huge effort they put into the successful organisation of the annual golf tournament which was held at the Clogher Valley  GC at the weekend. Warm appreciation also to Colm Graham for his more than generous sponsorship of the event and congratulations go to Sean Breen who was the top winner.

The Lotto jackpot for last Saturday was not won the numbers drawn being 11 20 21 and 22. Winners of the two £25 prizes were Rennick Wilson, Mullyknock and Ciara Cunningham, Kilkeel, Co Down. The jackpot for this Saturday August 21st stands at £4 600 and the team on duty is Paul and Steven Colgan and Tony Murphy. The team on duty for Saturday August 28th and September 5th is Brian and Conor Flanagan, Paul Dolan and Gary Leonard.

Members with suitable equipment are asked to note that there will be a field spruce up on Saturday next commencing at 5-00 pm in preparation for the club hosting championship games the following weekend.
