Latest News from Tempo Maguires GAC
This morning Tempo Ladies took part in the inaugural Patricia Gilroy memorial tournament hosted by Lisnaske Emmetts. The girls had three games losing to Lisnaskea, kinawley and winning against Maguiresbridge.
Plans for the full development at the lower field have recently been submitted to the council for their approval.
A copy of the plans is available on the Planning Portal website (http://epicpublic.planningni.gov.uk/publicaccess/applicationDetails.do?activeTab=summary&keyVal=PE6086SV30000), or in person through Fermanagh & Omagh District Council quoting reference number LA10/2018/1121/F.
We would be grateful if people could consider and respond to these plans.
A very successful weekend for the club with three victories chalked up, two of these in underage grade.
Congratulations go to the under 17 squad who won the second division league title at Brookeborough on Saturday afternoon when they edged out a slender one point victory over Lisnaskea.
They had a sluggish enough opening quarter to the game, falling several points in arrears but as the game progressed they eased their way back and critically they were to score an absolutely crucial goal on the stroke of the interval, to move into the lead.
Over the third quarter their lead was to be extended and they looked to be coasting to a relatively easy win but the Emmett’s battled back and in the end it was a nerve jangling one point affair, the win all the more satisfying because of the tight nature of the finish.
Second game on the Brookeborough double header was the senior relegation semi final with ‘Skea again the opposition.
This was to result in an emphatic Tempo victory with a winning margin in double figures. However it didn’t look at all promising over the first quarter as ‘Skea opened the sharper with a series of points.
Critically for Tempo they poached a breakaway goal which kept them in the hunt and heading towards the break the team showed more enterprise.
Just a point adrift on the resumption, Tempo then struck a massive blow with a rapid fire two goal surge that established a commanding advantage and the game was essentially wrapped up, a fourth goal notched near the end as the Emmett’s challenge fizzled out.
Next up is the relegation decider against Erne Gaels on Saturday in Derrygonnelly, and given the way they dispatched Lisnaskea the team should be going in believing that they can survive in the top flight for next season.
Third win of the weekend was the league win for the under 13 side who had plenty to spare over visiting Devenish. Tempo had already secured their slot in the leaguef final but Devenish needed a win to keep their qualification hopes alive so they came in determined mood.
Tempo however have been in buoyant form all season and they had a solid lead at the finish, they now take on Teemorenext weekend in the final.
Lotto jackpot for last weekend was not won the numbers drawn being 4 14 20 and 25. Winners of the two £25 prizes were Clare King and Peter McGirr. Jackpot for next weekend now stands at £3 400.
Team on duty for Saturday October 6th is Damian Kelly, Ryan Bogue, Niall Breen and Leonard Kelly. Team on duty for October 13th and 20th is Anthony McCaffery, Ryan Ingram, Sean and Mary Murphy.
Promising news on the underage front with both the under 13 and under 17 sides making good headway.
The former have reached their divisional final where they will play Lisnaskea. They ensured their passage through to the decider by scoring a good home win over Ederney. This game saw the young Maguires produce a confident display right from the outset and they had the result wrapped up by the time the interval was reached.
A result wrapped up by the interval apparently for the under 17 squad as they breezed past the challenge of Belnaleck in their quarter final clash but the second half was to be an entirely different story as Belnaleck came roaring back.#
In the end it was to be a cliff hanger of a battle the team squeezing out a slimline one point win.
Semi final opponents are as yet unknown, but it will be the winners of the Kinawley v Teemore quarter final clash.
It had been intended to have the under 17 final as the curtain raiser to the upcoming senior championship final next Sunday but hiccups in the initial rounds of the competition has scuppered that agenda.
The Teemore v Kinawley game will not be pencilled in for the foreseeable future so our under 17 squad have a lengthy wait ahead of them before they are back in action.
Action however for the senior side who will take on Lisnaskea in the first relegation semi final on Friday evening. Defeat here and the team will be in division two league football next season. Should they win they then face the losers of the Erne Gaels v Irvinestown tie , another must win game if relegation is to be avoided.
Preparation for the Lisnaskea game has included a challenge tie on Sunday last against Tyrone club Drumagh and it was to be an encouraging performance from the side as they scored a narrow victory.
Lotto jackpot for last weekend was not won the numbers drawn being 3 9 19 and 27.Winners of the two £25 prizes were Grace McGrade, Coolcran and Cahir/Clara Breen. Jackpot for next weekend now stands at £3 300.
