Played on a sun-drenched field, this ladies minor A championship match brought out the best of all the young, skilled Tempo footballers. Tempo got off to a nervous start with Newtownbutler getting a couple of early scores on the board. But Tempo finally settled into their stride, with Cadhla Bogue the star of the first half scoring a hattrick of goals. Bliathin Bogue also chipped in with a goal and a point, with Megan Hamilton getting the final score of the half.
Half time score: Tempo 4-3 Newtown 0-5
The second half was a closer contest, with Tempo scoring two goals and two points to Newtownbutlers 1 goal and 5 points. The two Tempo goals were scored by Kayleigh West and Bliathin Bogue, with Ursula Fee and Cadhla Bogue scoring the two points. This was a comfortable 10 point victory with good work stemming from goalkeeper Leah Campbell with some excellent saves and smart kickouts. The defence was solid with the two Cassidy girls mopping up a lot of pressure with half backs Anna Kennedy, Molly Bogue and Laoise Mcnally holding firm. The midfield duo of Ursula Fee and Molly Flynn defended well and set up most of the Tempo attacks with half forward Bliathin Bogue acting as a third midfielder on a number of occasions. The other half forwards Kayleigh West and Cadhla Bogue proved far too hot to handle with numerous attacks getting them scores on the board. Full forwards Megan Hamilton and Zoe Leonard both played with great spirit and stopped Newtownbutler from building from the back.
The girls now look forward to a minor A championship semi-final.
