Club Notes 31.08.15

Big disappointment of the weekend was of course the exit from the senior championship on Saturday evening the team losing out to Erne Gaels. Making the disappointment that shade more acute was the fact that the defeat was by the slimmest of margins, a one point deficit. And in such a scenario there is always the case of ‘what might have been.”
Still the team. which was the strongest lineout of the season put in a commendable effort in a game which saw them go in as outsiders and they came within a whisker of earning a replay.

So it’s into the business of retaining senior status for next season and this won’t be an easy task as the draw has thrown up the losers of the Derrygonnelly /Ederney tie as the opposition. That duo played out a draw in their quarter final so it won’t be until the weekend that we find out who the opponents will be.

On the underage front the juvenile side will be commencing their championship quest shortly and since the school holidays are now over it is presumed that there will be a full squad available for selection which would mean that there is a real chance of making headway. Training for the panel resumed last night (Tuesday).

The drive to collect subscribers to the fund raising direct debit scheme is continuing. The club is embarking on a major development project over the coming months and it is hoped that anyone who has an interest in the future of the club will sign up for the four year scheme. Over the decades there has been massive development, the new pitch, pavilion and stand. This new project is just another stage in the never ending drive to improve sporting facilities for the youth of the parish so all support would be appreciated.
