Club Notes 27.06.16

One of the main events over the weekend was the hosting of the annual Paul and Orla Bogue underage tournament with competition at under 12 level and in girls minor grade.

Again this was to be a very successful and enjoyable day’s sporting occasion and the club wishes to thank the many volunteers who assisted in the smooth running of the day.

Eight teams competed at under 12 level with Newtownbutler defeating Belcoo in a splendid final while in minor girls ,Tempo overcame neighbouring Maguiresbridge.

Winner of player of the tournanment in minor grade was Sineve Cassidy and the award in under 12 went to Cora McCaughey and warmest congratulations go to both on a fine achievement.

Not such a good weekend for the club in adult football and both Erne Cup and senior sides tumbled to defeats. The Erne Cup team were to be pipped by derby foes Brookeborough while the senior side again slumped to a heavy reversal at the hands of visiting Belcoo on Sunday.

In this game the visitors were to hold the whiphand for most of the game and they eventually pulled away to register an emphatic success. Eight straight defeats now the dismal record of the senior side which not surprisingly leaves them anchored at the foot of the league table.

One ‘starred’ game still to be played over the remaining eight match schedule but it looks a very remote chance that the team will be able to avoid a relegation scenario come the end of the campaign.

The Lotto jackpot for the weekend of Saturday June 25 was not won the numbers drawn being 3 7 14 and 24. Winners of the two £25 prizes were Patsy Moran and Aoife/Allanah McLoughlin, Tempo. The jackpot for the coming weekend now stands at £ 3 600. Team on duty for Saturdays July 2 and 9 is Damian Breen and Sorcha Johnston. Team on duty for Saturdays July 16 and 23 is Brian and Sean McCaffery, Niall McElroy and Damian Green.

The Games Session in the Community Centre this Thursday (June 29th) will be in aid of parochial funds and all are encouraged to attend to ensure that the financial return to the parish will be substantial.

Tempo Og programme continues at Sunday lunchtime, starting time is 12-00 and the programme is proving to be hugely popular with underage groups.
