Club Notes 23.05.16

For the senior side the season is now developing into a struggle to avoid relegation as they find themselves increasingly isolated at the foot of the league ladder.

Last weekend had the team in action on Friday evening and Sunday lunchtime and both fixtures ended in defeat opening with the Friday reversal against Maguiresbridge.

The ‘Bridge were to enjoy a snappy early spree that launched them into a four point lead and they were never to surrender this. Tempo did make valiant efforts to get back and at one stage had narrowed the gap to a single point but in the end were adrift by two.

It was a heavier setback against visiting Irvinestown on Sunday the team beaten by seven. Surprisingly given this end result there was to be a sprightly start, two points clipped over in two minutes but that was as good as it was to get. By the interval a sharper opposition had pushed out into a six points advantage and a lacklustre Maguires attack never looked inventive enough to claw back that deficit.

Yet if there had been even a few more of the reasonably plentiful opportunities converted the final scoreline could have been a great deal closer.

The tale of woe at adult level was to continue with the Erne Cup side losing out to Derrygonnelly in a Saturday evening away fixture the team well beaten in the end.

On the underage front there is an important few days ahead for the under 14 side who will have a Feile na nOg final against Belnaleck on a date this midweek. Wins over Coa, Devenish and Brookeborough have earned their final ticket. Hopefully a victory there will be a boost as they head into their opening championship clash with Irvinestown on Saturday. Venue for this game has yet to be finalised.

The Lotto jackpot which resumed at £3 000 was not won last weekend the numbers drawn here being 5 12 16 and 17. Winners of the two £25 prizes were Emma Little and F Kildea. The jackpot next Saturday is £3 100. Team on duty for Saturday May 28 is Declan Owen, Ignatius and Damian Meehan and Neil Rodgers.

The team on duty for June 4 and 11 is Declan McCaffery, Matthew Jackson, Conor McNally and Brendan McCusker.

Finally a reminder that the summer segment of Tempo Og will resume on June 5th at the normal time.
