Club Notes 22.02.16

The club’s under 14 side are the first Maguire’s team to swing into action for season 2016 and it was an encouraging start with the team scoring an excellent victory in their fixture against Enniskillen Gaels B

A strong first half display laid the foundations for what in the end was a decisive eleven point success, the interval lead a solid eight points and over the second half there was never any real concern that the side would be pegged back.

Next up for the Declan Connolly/ Gary Leonard managed squad is a home tie on Saturday afternoon with neighbouring Coa the visiting opposition.

The scheduled minor league opening round tie for Sunday lunchtime against Ederney was not played, the complete county fixture list being postponed owing to the re arranged St Michael’s MacRory quarter final in Clones. That quarter final featured no less than a trio of Tempo players, captain Ruairi McCaffery, midfielder Tiarnan Bogue and forward Lorcan McStravick.

It was not a happy day however for them as the side were to be ousted by a superior St Paul’s of Bessbrook.

Lotto jackpot for the weekend of Saturday February 20 was not won the numbers drawn being 3 4 11 and 13. Winners of the two £25 prizes were Eilish Barratt, Glenn and Paul McCaffery. The jackpot for next Saturday now stands at £7 300.

Team on duty for Saturdays February 27 and March 5th is Kevin King, Dermot Foy, Shane and Paul McDonald.

Youth coaching for P3/4 will continue on Tuesdays in the Community Centre from 7-00 to 8-00 while the Tempo Og programme for the spring will commence on Sunday March 6th, initially for a three week period, then breaking for Easter before resuming for a four week run to late April.

There will be meeting of the youth committee in the pavilion on Friday February 26th with a 7-30 start and this will be dealing with a number of topics, in particular Tempo Og. All coaches are asked to be present and any parents willing to assist in the organisation of Tempo Og are more than welcome to attend.

Last Sunday saw the first training session for the adult team and as anticipated there was a big attendance present. This year has seen a much later start to pre season preparation which should see enthusiasm maintained for the relatively short wait for the onset of the leagues.

Erne Cup competition is scheduled for a late March start, the senior league in mid April.
