Club Notes 19.12.16

Tickets for the National Draw sponsored by Croke Park are presently being distributed. All monies collected go to the club so this is a terrific opportunity to boost finances and in recent years the venture has indeed been a major success.

This year due to the onset of the Club Tempo fund raiser there will be a limited push on ticket sales but if all who receive a batch of tickets sell their quota there will still be a substantial return. Ticket foils should be back with Damian Campbell no later than Sunday January 8th in order to allow time for sales to be registered online with Croke Park. Tickets are priced at £10.

Congratulations to our vice chairman Phil Flanagan who has been elected as vice chairman of Fermanagh Co Board and best wishes go to him for a successful term in office.

Congratulations also to Aidan Breen who had an outstanding game playing for Ulster in last Saturday’s Railway Cup final victory over Connacht. Much deserved recognition for a player who has enjoyed a top notch inter county career since his breakthrough at that level.

Our weekly Games Session in the Community Centre has been attracting bigger attendances of late though the Christmas factor has to be taken into account.Still there is optimism that the corner has been turned and there is a determination to keep the venture running if at all possible.

All games have prizes of £30 per line, £100 per house with the possibility of a £2 000 handout on game ten on 48 calls or less. In the event of this not being won the payout is £500 an amount not to be sniffed at.

The club thanks all those who have been loyal supporters over the years .Christmas and New Year greetings are extended to all. Games sessions will be run as normal on Thursdays December 22nd and 29th.

The hugely popular Townland Sevens tournament on St Stephen’s Day will be played at the Bawnacre complex with a 10-30 am starting time. This event has grown in stature over the year and the decision to move to the Irvinestown venue has made it a lot more attractive both for players and spectators. This year an added attraction is an over 50’s competition.
