The minor team produced a storming second half performance to score a fine away victory over Lisnaskea last midweek. The team was under the cosh during the first half and they found themselves well adrift on the resumption but they were to buckle down to the challenge and in a fighting display they shot an impressive tally of scores to etch out what was in the end a thoroughly exciting and fully deserved success. A fine win but perhaps it has come too late to earn a ticket into the divisional decider.
Still on the underage front and the successful run of the under 14 side continues. They were in action twice over the past seven days and collected wins over Teemore and Belnaleck to keep themselves high up the Section B league ladder. Both wins were by decisive margins and judging by the track record the team is well on its way to qualify for the divisional decider.
Not so fortunate was the Erne Cup side which lost out to Newtownbutler last midweek at the Newtown ground. This was a case of missed chances definitely costing the side. They created a number of clearcut goal opportunities in the first half but failed dismally to convert them and inevitably they paid the penalty for this waste. Over the second half they found themselves chasing the game. They did momentarily look like they might bridge the six to seven point gap but a late Newtown goal scuppered that.
The senior side journeyed to Devenish on Saturday evening and after a string of poor results there would have been more hope than confidence that the losing sequence could be halted. In the end the team poached a highly welcome draw, levelling the match with the final score of the game. It was an encouraging result and hopefully after the break for the county championship game the team will be able to get itself back into a winning vein.
The Lotto jackpot for the weekend of Saturday May 16th was not won the numbers drawn being 8 17 24 and 26. Winners of the two £25 prizes were Ignatius Meehan and Cara McGrade. The jackpot for this coming weekend now stands at £3 300. The team on duty for Saturdays May 23 and 30 is Ignatius Meehan, Declan Owens, Damian Meehan and Neil Rogers.
Preparations are continuing for the 10km run which will be held on Saturday June 6th.
