The story still a disappointing one on the underage front as both the under 14’s and the minors find it tough going in their respective leagues, both lost out at the weekend.
First up was the under 14 side who entertained St Patricks and they went down by a two points margin on a very frustrating scoreline of 0-17 to 4-7. The team had a lot of possession over the sixty minutes and were to finish with a very creditable tally of points but their failure to register a goal was to cost them dear especially since they coughed up four to the opposition.
They were on level terms two minutes from time but St Patricks clipped over two late points.
Good performances were turned in by Rhys O’Hara who had a very busy game at half forward, Daly Corcoran and Cahir Breen and from Liam Moore at wing half.
On Sunday the minor side fell to visiting Lisnaskea by a four points margin. This, given the fact that they continue to be under strength, was to be a decent enough display and they were well in the chase right through the sixty minutes.
Still it was always a case of playing catch up, the side four points in arrears at the interval and over the second half they couldn’t put enough pressure on the Emmett’s to chisel out a comeback.
Strong defensive play from Ronan McCaffery at full back and others to do well included Ryan Breen, Oisin Jackson and Ciaran Rafferty. No game scheduled for next weekend, Devenish away the following week.
Adult football commences this weekend with the onset of the Erne Cup league and round one has been scheduled for an 11 -30 throw in time on Sunday. This throw in time is to facilitate anyone wishing to attend the Fermanagh NFL game v Clare in Brewster Park later in the afternoon.
