Club Notes 08.08.16

Congratulations go to the girl’s under 14 side and to their manager which captured their league title when they scored a deserved win over Ederney in the decider played at Brewster Park on Saturday.

It had been a hectic week for the panel for this was their third game inside the space of six days beginning with a play off on Monday which they lost to Ederney.

On Wednesday they bounced back from that disappointment to defeat Belcoo in their second play off and that earned a repeat battle with Ederney.

On this occasion the team delivered a fighting first half display to move well ahead but they had a different kind of a fight in the second half as they had to defend with resolute determination a strong Ederney comeback.

In the end they held on for a four points lead and particularly outstanding displays were to be provided by goalkeeper Leah Campbell, top scorer Cadhla Bogue and hardworking centrefield player Ursula Fee.

Panel for the campaign was; Chloe Hamilton; Sineve Cassidy; Megan Hamilton; Annamarie Kennedy; Laoise McNally; Mia Breen; Ursula Fee; Cadla Bogue; Molly Bogue; Kayleigh Bradley West; Cora McCaughey;Leah Campbell; Laura Cassidy; Ella Jackson; Caitlin Leonard; Emer Campbell; Zoe Murray; Cora Slevin and Aoife Bradley.

The senior team put in a vastly improved performance last Sunday in their league clash with Irvinestown but unfortunately travelled back home with a three points defeat. On the plus side however was the fact that at last there was to be a strong scoring effort in the much criticised attack, an impressive tally of 3-14 being tallied up and the team showed excellent resilience over the hour as at one stage they had fallen eight points adrift.

If the side can sustain this level of commitment then some headway can surely be made in the upcoming championship.

There will be a club meeting this coming Monday August 15th commencing at 8-30 pm.

The Lotto jackpot was not won at the weekend the numbers drawn being 3 12 14 and 18. Winners of the two £25 prizes were Sarah Evans and Lee Dolan, the jackpot for next Saturday now standing at £4 200. Team on duty for Saturdays August 13 and 20 is Paul Colgan and Stephen Jackson.

Team on duty for Saturday August 27 and September 3rd is Gary Leonard, Paul Dolan, Brian and Conor Flanagan. Again anyone unable to do their rota turn is asked to inform club chair or secretary so that other personnel can be brought in.
