A number of key appointments were made over the past few days as the club moves into pre season mode, these appointments ratified at last week’s club meeting.
The senior side will be managed by a group comprising of Sean Breen, Declan Campbell and Brian Jackson with training in the hands of Adrian Little. Obviously everyone in the club will wish the management and the panel every success in 2016 with one of the top aims being a return to the senior championship.
And this is a target that will be not unreasonable to achieve given the fact that Co Board has rejected a proposal to restrict promotion from intermediate to senior to just one club. The two teams who will contest the 2016 intermediate final will compete in the 2017 senior championship.
The post of club treasurer has also been filled, Michael Corey taking up the post. Given the fact that the club is currently embarked on a major fund raising scheme and with Lotto doing extremely well it was critical that such an important post was filled as soon as was possible.
Also appointed has been Declan Connolly who will take charge of the under 14 side this season and best wishes also go to him.
Still to be appointed is a ladies team manager but the club committee are actively pursuing this.
On the question of fundraising the committee in charge of the five year scheme report a very healthy response with approximately 25% of hoped for income already secured. A billboard has been erected on the site to publicise the intended project and give the public the opportunity of seeing just exactly what the development will look like when finished.
It is expected that the scheme will be underway by April.
The Lotto jackpot for the weekend of Saturday February 6th was not won the numbers drawn being 1 19 20 and 26. Winners of the two £25 prizes were Una Chism and Brian Johnston. The jackpot for this coming Saturday February 13th now stands at £7 100.
On duty for Saturdays February 13 and 20 is the team led by Gerard Cassidy, Tony Kelly and Brian Rogers.
The team on duty for Saturdays February 27 and March 5 will be Kevin King, Dermot Foy, Paul McDonald and Shane McDonald.
Best wishes go to three of our talented younger players, Ruairi McCaffery, Tiarnan Bogue and Lorcan McStravick who will be lining out for St Michael’s College in next Sunday’s MacRory Cup quarter final clash with St Paul’s Bessbrook, the game pencilled in for St Tiarnach’s Park, Clones.
Finally there will be a Field Committee meeting on Saturday 13th at a time to be arranged by the chairman.
