Opening game of the past week was the midweek Erne Cup home with Maguiresbridge the visitors. This was to finish in an emphatic win, the second on the bounce for the side, following up on their excellent comeback performance against Newtownbutler.
Lots of goals scored against the ‘Bridge on a splendid sunny evening but it also took some top class goalkeeping from Stephen Jackson to keep the lead a comfortable one. At the other end of the pitch the attack was in fine fettle also and a big scoreline was racked up to lift the side up into mid table.
On Thursday evening the girls under 16 girls side played their divisional league decider against Enniskillen at the Ederney ground but it was to be a disappointment for them as they were defeated.
The side put in a solid enough first half and reached the break very much in contention, just two points adrift. And on the changeover they clipped that to a single point but that was as good as it was to get for them.
Enniskillen around the threequarter mark struck for their third goal and that effectively killed off our hopes.
Still it was a fine achievement for the panel and their manager to reach this decider and a bright future beckons.
Team (for the archives) was; Megan Hamilton; Sineve Cassidy; Laoise McNally; Mollie Bogue; Ursula Fee; Annamarie Kennedy; Blaithín Bogue; Molly Flynn; Annie Flynn; Cadhla Bogue ; Cora McCaughey; Ella Jackson; Leah Campbell; Sub; Laura Cassidy;
The minor team travelled to Ederney on Friday evening but were to lose out to the home side. The team is badly handicapped by the unavailability of two key players but they the understrength side still managed to put up a sturdy challenge and they had an especially bright third quarter effort as the turned an interval deficit into a slender lead. But in the end they were to be overhauled by the home side.
