Club Notes 05.10.15

Due to the postponement of the county championship final the knock on effect sees the concluding section of the league campaign also delayed. It had been intended to have the league fixtures resume this coming weekend but this has now been pushed out to the following weekend. The senior side have a stern challenge ahead of them over the remainder of the league as they bid to avoid relegation to next season’s second division. In all there are four fixtures remaining on the schedule and none of them could be regarded as straightforward so a major effort required from the senior panel to escape the drop.

The under 16 side are enjoying a much better run in their league programme and they are well on their way to qualifying for their league decider.

The Lotto jackpot for the weekend of Saturday October 3rd was not won the numbers drawn being 11 17 20 and 25. Winners of the two £25 prizes were Larry Maye and Eamon Owens. The jackpot for this coming weekend now stands at £5 300.

The team on duty for Saturdays October 10 and 17 is Brendan Fee, Thomas Campbell and Paul McCann. The team on duty for Saturdays October 24 and 31 is Martin Breen, John Owens and John Connolly. In the event of anyone unable or unwilling to be present it is important that this be communicated to a club officer in order that alternative volunteers can be appointed. The Lotto is the club’s main fund raiser and it is vital that it is run in a proper manner ,namely that there is personnel present to organise the weekly draw.

Attendances at the weekly Games Session held in the Community Centre every Thursday have seen some slippage and again club members are encouraged, if at all possible, to support the event even on a sporadic basis.

The promotion of the second pitch development fund is ongoing and numbers are steadily increasing. Subscription is £20 per month for a four year period or if contributor prefers, a larger amount on a periodic basis. There will be a quarterly draw the prize here being £500 and at the AGM there will be a draw for £1 000. All monies collected will go directly to the second pitch development fund. Anyone interested who has not yet been contacted can approach any club official for further details. It is hoped to have something in the region of 100 members subscribing.
