Club Notes 05.06.17

Main event of the week was the Paul and Orla Bogue Memorial tournament which was once again a huge success.Held on Saturday there was a lengthy programme of games for under 12 and minors and the day was wrapped up with a challenge game between former Tempo ladies footballers and a county selection.

Player of this particular game was Eimear Keenan of Enniskillen.

Eight teams contested the under 12 competition with Kinawley beating Irvinestown in a very competitive final and in the minors Kinawley were again victors this time overcoming Tempo by a single point.

Warmest thanks go to all those who supported the tournament and who ensured the smooth running of the competitions. Presentations at the end were made by Thomas and Angela Bogue.

The senior side travelled to Newtownbutler on Saturday evening and returned with two well deserved league points which copperfastens their position at the top of the table.

Not a particularly bright start from the side with the home squad definitely looking more threatening but as the half progressed the team gradually gained a foothold and reached the interval with a slim lead.

It had been a competitive tussle and that continued to be the case through the third quarter before , late in the hour the team hit a purple patch to stride out five clear. The game not done and dusted however and they had to fend off a determined late rally from Newtown, the lead narrowed to two points before winning by four.

Overall a sound team performance and they look to have a good summer ahead of them, promotion back to the first division very much in their own hands.

Not so good for the under 14 team who bowed out of their championship as they went down to a strong Erne Gaels side, the game played at Belcoo.

The Belleek team had, a few weeks previously scored an emphatic league victory at Tempo and that form was replicated here, the winners always in control.

Lotto jackpot for last weekend was not won the numbers drawn being 4 15 17 and 18. Winners of the two £25 prizes were Terry Broderick and Maeve McCaffery. Jackpot for next Saturday June 10th now stands at £4 700.

Team on duty for Saturday is Gerard Fee, John Pakenham and Daryl Keenan. Team on duty for Saturdays June 17th and 24th is Damian Breen, Sorcha Johnston and Carmel McGirr.
