A civic reception was held by Fermanagh & Omagh district council in the Townhall of Enniskillen last night in recognition of the all-Ireland success achieved by Tempo U14 footballers in their category during the Feile at the end of June. Fermanagh hurlers were also in attendance in recognition of their Lory Meagher success.
Council Chairman Thomas O’Reilly paid tribute to the dedication and hard work of the team and their managers, and pointed out that the council wanted to recognise all major successes achieved within its area.
Greg Kelly said a few words on behalf of Fermanagh County Board thanking the council for its recognition and remembering that Feile weekends are always special in his memory, having attended many as manager and team administrator over the years.
Team manager Stephen Jackson also thanked the Chairman and council and said that events such as these help to relive that historic weekend and in particular the pulsating extra-time of the final itself in Carlow.
Fermanagh & Omagh district council have commissioned special commemorative trophies for such events, and it was pointed out that Tempo captain Oisin Jackson is the first ever recipient of such an award – Tempo U14s create another piece of history!
