An open letter to the local community

A chara,

I write to invite you to a very important event.

As you will be aware, progress is being made on our training field development. In order to ensure that the club develops a fit for purpose facility, we require the commitment and sacrifice of our members and our supporters.

We are extremely grateful to the individuals, families and businesses that have contributed and continue to contribute to our flagship fundraising initiative Club Tempo 2020.

However, the funds raised through this scheme will not cover the required works in their entirety. There will be at least an additional £100,00 required to complete the training field development with fencing, ballstops and floodlighting.

Therefore, there is an important decision to be made at this juncture, when quotes have been provided and contractors are being appointed to complete works:

1 – Do we take out a substantial loan and leave a substantial debt hanging over the club for many years to come?

or

2 – Do we embark on an ambitious fundraising strategy to cover the cost of this work upfront?

In reality, we are a small rural club with modest membership, but we have big dreams.  As a club we have always stubbornly refused to accept what some might see as our limitations and we’re not about to entertain these now.

We are asking everyone with an interest in the future of Tempo Maguires GAC, those who want to see the club grow and develop to join us this Tuesday 21st February at 8:30pm in the clubrooms to discuss how best to achieve our ambitious objectives.

We won’t keep you all night and we’ll even make you a mug of tea.

It doesn’t matter whether you are a member, a player, a coach, a committee member or hold another role, or none, within the club. Every single one of us has our one particular role to play in developing this club.

In essence, we can’t all take the close in frees!

Other work needs to be done and we need to share the load among as many people as possible. We need the help, support and goodwill of everyone to meet our goals.

Hopefully we will see you on Tuesday night.
